"I've been walkin' these streets so long
Singin' the same old song
I know every crack in these dirty sidewalks of Broadway
Where hustle's the name of the game
And nice guys get washed away like the snow and the rain
There's been a load of compromisin'
On the road to my horizon
But I'm gonna be where the lights are shinin' on me
Like a rhinestone cowboy
Riding out on a horse in a star-spangled rodeo
Like a rhinestone cowboy
Getting cards and letters from people I don't even know
And offers comin' over the phone
Well, I really don't mind the rain
And a smile can hide all the pain
But you're down when you're ridin' the train that's takin' the long way
And I dream of the things I'll do
With a subway token and a dollar tucked inside my shoe
There'll be…
My Favorite song of his. Dolly Parton sang it also. I agree, that's a terrible disease to get. Make sure you eat eggs. I hear tell eggs have the needed stuff to get away from Alzheimer's disease
I still remember when he was young and his song then was little green apples....
And I wake up in the mornin'
With my hair down in my eyes and she says "Hi"
And I stumble to the breakfast table
While the kids are goin' off to school…goodbye
And she reaches out 'n' takes my hand
And squeezes it 'n' says "How ya feelin', hon?"
And I look across at smilin' lips
That warm my heart and see my mornin' sun
And if that's not lovin' me
Then all I've got to say
God didn't make little green apples
And it don't rain in Indianapolis in the summertime
And there's no such thing as Doctor Seuss
Or Disneyland, and Mother Goose, no nursery rhyme
God didn't make little green apples
And it don't rain in Indianapolis in the summertime
And when my self is feelin' low
I think about her face aglow and ease my mind
Sometimes...
And he played in the original Rooster Cogburn with John Wayne. John Wayne did the sequel to that, part of the film was shot out side of Merlin on the rogue river. My mom and grandma got to go see but I missed it. :( I would have been thrilled to see him in person. The only stars I ever saw in person was Rosy Greer, just leaving a sidewalk cafe, the guy that played the ranger in Flipper and I heard Ray Charles at the undersea gardens and Charlie Daniels at the state fair. That was a good show, he did the devil went down to Georgia Also heard Helen Ready live, and got to see one other group that was popular at the time, The Kendall's.

Re: RIP Glen Campbell
Glen was terribly under appreciated as a singer and a player. His style was not flashy, at his best he had the gentle force of a incoming tide. Glen and the singer/songwriter Jimmy Webb were a gift to American Music. Glen and Jimmy have been on my playlist long before there was a YouTube.
